Hello long lost readers! (All five of you. Hi mom and dad!). I'm baaa-aaack! And, ready to post regularly like a real-life blogger. Aside from being not just a little bit lazy, I have been distracted with loads of weddings, camp outs, and wedding-camp outs. (More later on the woes of dressing for a wedding in a campground bathroom).
So, fall came to Santa Barbara this week! We're talking blustery days, fires in the fireplace, and (gasp!) lots and lots of rain. POURING rain. It was beyond cozy to eat pumpkin cookies (thank you, DeelishDish) by the fire, and doze off to the sound of water flicking the windows. The stormy weather started last weekend, and I've excitedly donned boots and sweaters and scarves all week. Today was no different. I woke up early and the weather was cool and foggy, so I pulled on a turtleneck, leggings, and boots... Oh, and a Patagonia micro-puff vest, compliments of a shared closet. When I got to work, everyone was wearing breezy dresses and strappy sandals. What the?
"Have you seen the news?" my co-worker asked. Well, no, I haven't because my roommate and I no longer have cable because... wait, why? "It's supposed to be 75 degrees today. Maybe 80. You're going to be hot." Thanks a lot, mother nature! [insert shaking fist] That interaction, plus a trip to the DMV and the police station, a $25 fix it fee, an unnatural amount of sweat, and a few more pumpkin cookies pretty much sums up my day. Oh, and I'm having a hard time putting sentences together. Everything that comes out of my mouth sounds like Yoda. Hard to see, the dark side is. This is embarrassing. Especially when you're an editor and, say, your publisher is in the office. I referred to breakfast as dinner, and I couldn't remember how to say turned off. As in, You know, it's probably not on because... um... Too much chocolate? Too many hours of sleep? Perhaps both. Did I tell you I went to bed at 9 pm last night? I had the kind of dreams that feel like reality, and I woke up generally confused. Still am. What's this post about again? Where am I? Who am I?

Kaaaatrin...awaiting your next lovely post!
